The end of the season is near and there's one award that's named after a former player, The Puskas. This award is given to the player who scored the best goal of the season.
Puskas started his playing career in Hungary for Budapest Honvéd and winning five league trophies for them. He was a part of the Mighty Magyars or the Golden Team for Hungary that would dominate the international game in the 1950s. With the Hungary revolutionary war happening in 1956, this would be the end of the era for the Mighty Magyars and seeing Puskas and his teammates escaping Hungary for the greener pastures of Spain. He would join Real Madrid, in 1958, where we would see him finish his career at Real Madrid by winning five straight league titles, three Champions League trophies, and many more. Puskas would end his career with 514 goals in 530 games.
Puskas earliest cards are hard to find, @elrey_collection has a great youtube video going over his cards if you want to learn more. The earliest of his cards is the 1946 Nannina, which would be his rookie card. Following that we have the 1950 Bolletje, 1954 A & BC All Sport Series, then his 1954 World Cup card, Weltmeisterschaft, he has different variations within this set. The 1958 Kane Products Ltd. would be one of his first Real Madrid cards, then probably one of his most popular cards is 1959 Heinerle.
